Reiki
Reiki is a complimentary healing technique that uses gentle touch by placing hands on or slightly off the body. It can also be sent distantly. It is safe, non-invasive and suitable for adults, children and animals and can be used alongside conventional veterinary medicine.
Reiki originated in Japan after being rediscovered by Dr Mikao Usui (1865-1926), in the late 19th century.
Reiki is a Japanese word, Rei, meaning universal and Ki, meaning vital life force energy. It is believed that energy flows through all living things and when this energy is balanced it can help to maintain health and well-being.
During a Reiki treatment universal life energy is transferred through the hands of a practitioner to promote physical, emotional and spiritual healing. It aids relaxation and stress reduction, which in turn promotes healing. It is natural and intuitive bringing balance and harmony to the body’s energy.
It has the potential to reduce anxiety, promote better sleep, improve mood, increase energy and reduce pain.

Acupressure
Acupressure is a non-invasive alternative to acupuncture based on Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). It helps to balance and regulate the body’s energy, by applying light pressure or touch to specific points, (acupoints, as used in acupuncture), along the body’s energy channels, helping to correct imbalances caused by physical, emotional and spiritual disharmony.
How does acupressure help an animal?
The body’s energy channels or meridian system, are energy pathways just below the surface of the skin. They connect the surface of the body with its internal organ system, regulating both energy and blood flow throughout the body.
Here are some of the ways in which acupressure can help your animal companion.
It can stimulate the body’s natural repair process helping with injury and illness. Reduce pain, by stimulating the release of naturally occurring pain relieving substances and endorphins. Reduce swelling and inflammation by stimulating the release of cortisone. Help to reduce anxiety by promoting relaxation and stress reduction. It is often used as a preventative measure to promote and maintain health and wellbeing.

Canine well being
My mission is not to focus on training, but to help bring understanding of what makes our dogs the individuals they are and how we can enhance our connection and understanding of them, by developing trust, balance and wellbeing to dogs and their caregivers. To achieve this, I draw on the resources of my learning.
As a Family Dog Mediator graduate, of the L.E.G.S Applied Ethology Family Dog Mediation Professional Course, my aim is to guide you through the LEGS that make your dog the individual they are. How they Learn, Environment, Genetics and Self all contribute to their unique personality and by having this understanding, meeting their needs, providing appropriate outlets for natural behaviours and recognising them as the individual they are, can create greater bonds and more harmonious living for all concerned.
Sensory education and enrichment can enable us to observe behaviours, patterns and preferences, build confidence in a safe and calming environment through exploration through the senses, discovering and allowing the individual needs to be identified and met.
I am also a certified dog trainer, graduating from The Victoria Stilwell Academy for Dog Training and Behaviour and am committed to a force free holistic approach to meeting a dog’s learning.
