Reiki
Reiki is a complimentary energy healing technique, that can balance the body’s energy, whilst promoting and supporting the body’s natural healing response. During the Reiki session the practitioner uses gentle touch by placing hands on or slightly off the body. The session is animal led and allows for movement and processing of the energy throughout. Reiki can also be sent distantly. Which means an animal client may receive it in the comfort of their own home environment, making it a wonderful option for those who do not like traveling, may have limited time, convenience or who may not wish to receive a treatment in-person. A distant Reiki energy session is as strong and as beneficial, as an in-person one.
Reiki is safe, non-invasive and suitable for adults, children and animals and can be used alongside conventional veterinary medicine and other therapies as a balancing, supportive modality.
How I work with the energy of Reiki.
During a treatment, I work intuitively with the energy of Reiki and my team in spirit to provide an energy healing for mind, body and spirit, as energy is transferred from myself to the animal client through my hands. In an animal Reiki treatment, I work with the animal and am led by them, they often indicate where they would like/need me to work, through body language, or I can receive information from them via feelings in my own body, images or words, as telepathic communication. This trusting connection allows me to provide the optimum treatment for their needs at that specific time.
How can Reiki help my animal?
As Reiki is a natural and intuitive energy, it brings balance and harmony to the body.
It aids relaxation, reduces stress, and has the potential to reduce anxiety, promote better sleep, improve mood, increase energy and reduce pain. It can be used to promote healing and as a preventative measure to maintain optimum health and wellbeing, it is also a gentle supportive energy for animals at the end of life.
Joint appointments can be arranged for animal and caregiver, as it is often the case that similarities in energy imbalances and ailments are mirrored between people and the animals in their lives.
Reiki origin.
Reiki originated in Japan after being rediscovered by Dr Mikao Usui (1865-1926), in the late 19th century.
Reiki is a Japanese word, Rei, meaning universal and Ki, meaning vital life force energy. It is believed that energy flows through all living things and when this energy is balanced it can help to maintain health and wellbeing.
Reiki and me.
As a Reiki Master Teacher I trained in Usui Shiki Ryhoho, a Japanese healing art rediscovered and developed by Dr Mikao Usui, which translates to, “the Usui System of Natural Healing”. This means the lineage of my training can be traced back to Dr Mikao Usui.
As a Reiki practitioner I live by the 5 Reiki Principles, Just For Today: Do not anger; Do not worry; Be grateful; Work with diligence; Be kind to others.

Acupressure
Acupressure is a non-invasive alternative to acupuncture based on Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). It helps to balance and regulate the body’s energy, by applying light pressure or touch to specific points, (acupoints, as used in acupuncture), along the body’s energy channels, helping to correct imbalances caused by physical, emotional and spiritual disharmony.
How I work with acupressure.
With all of my treatment sessions, regardless of discipline, a consultation form and consent will be completed prior to any treatment. This and discussion with the caregiver will establish where a session will start. However, as an intuitive practitioner I will always be led by the animal, enabling a trusting relationship between us. As in my Reiki treatments, they often indicate where they would like/need me to work, through body language, or I can receive information from them via feelings in my own body, images or words, as telepathic communication. This trusting connection allows me to provide the optimum treatment for their individual needs at that specific time.
Although acupressure is generally undertaken in-person, I am able to offer distant Reiki healing that directs the energy to specific acupressure points. This works very well and provides benefits and opportunity for those who are unable to receive an in-person session
How does acupressure work?
The body has specific points, (acupoints), situated along what is known as energy channels or meridian system, these are energy pathways just below the surface of the skin. They connect the surface of the body with its internal organ system, regulating both energy and blood flow throughout the body. When a light pressure is applied to the point it can promote a free flow of energy around the body, increase blood flow, release pain relieving endorphins and release natural cortisone to reduce swelling.
Here are some of the ways in which acupressure can help your animal companion.
It can stimulate the body’s natural repair process helping with injury and illness. Reduce pain, by stimulating the release of naturally occurring pain relieving substances and endorphins. Reduce swelling and inflammation by stimulating the release of cortisone. Help to reduce anxiety by promoting relaxation and stress reduction. It is often used as a preventative measure to promote and maintain health and wellbeing.

Canine wellbeing
My mission is not to focus on training, but to help bring understanding of what makes our dogs the individuals they are and how we can enhance our connection and understanding of them, by developing trust, balance and wellbeing to dogs and their caregivers. To achieve this, I draw on the resources of my learning.
As a Family Dog Mediator graduate, of the L.E.G.S Applied Ethology Family Dog Mediation Professional Course, my aim is to guide you through the LEGS that make your dog the individual they are. How they Learn, Environment, Genetics and Self all contribute to their unique personality and by having this understanding, meeting their needs, providing appropriate outlets for natural behaviours and recognising them as the individual they are, can create greater bonds and more harmonious living for all concerned.
Sensory education and enrichment can enable us to observe behaviours, patterns and preferences, build confidence in a safe and calming environment through exploration through the senses, discovering and allowing the individual needs to be identified and met.
I am also a certified dog trainer, graduating from The Victoria Stilwell Academy for Dog Training and Behaviour and am committed to a force free holistic approach to meeting a dog’s learning.
If you are open and curious to its benefits, a short energy treatment can be included into the session.
Appointments can be in-person or via Zoom, for your convenience. I offer a free 30 minute informal chat to all clients, prior to booking an appointment.
